Whether you’re new to card games or a longtime fan of competitive deck building, NABIS The Gardening offers a simple foundation with deep strategic potential.
This guide explains how the game works, the different card types, and how players interact with the Garden.
What Is NABIS The Gardening?
NABIS The Gardening is a turn-based collectible card game where each player controls a Gardener. Gardeners use a deck of Plants and action cards to deal damage to their opponent and protect themselves.
Each player starts with:
-A shuffled deck (max 60 cards)
-Seven cards in hand
-An empty Garden
- Compost Pile for used and discarded cards
The goal is to outplay your opponent by carefully managing your resources, timing your attacks, and controlling the battlefield.
The Turn Structure
Each turn in NABIS has three phases:
Untap + Draw Phase
Players untap any tapped cards and draw one card from their deck.
Action Phase
Players spend Canna to:
-Play Plants
-Use Heirlooms
-Cast Treatments
-Deploy Pests & Pesticides
-Attack with Plants
Discard Phase
Players discard cards until only seven remain in their hand.
This structure creates a rhythm of preparation, action, and cleanup that rewards planning ahead.
Card Types Explained
Gardeners
Gardeners represent the players. Each Gardener commands a deck of Plants and implements used to defeat the opponent.
Plants
Plants are your main force on the battlefield.
-They deal and block damage
-They cannot attack the turn they enter the Garden
-They tap when they attack
-They untap during the Untap + Draw Phase
Heirlooms
Heirlooms are items that provide ongoing abilities or grant power to Plants.
They stay in play until removed.
Treatments
Treatments are action cards that can be played at any time, even during an opponent’s turn.
-They take effect immediately
-After use, they go to the Compost Pile
Pests & Pesticides
These cards remain in the Garden after being played and affect gameplay over time.
-Can only be played during your turn
Canna (Mana)
Canna is the resource used to play cards. Managing Canna is one of the most important skills in the game.
The Garden and the Compost Pile
The Garden is the main playing area where Plants and active cards exist.
The Compost Pile is where used and discarded cards go.
Together, these zones represent the cycle of growth and decay that defines the NABIS universe.
